Currently, 30 provinces in Viet Nam are implemented black tiger shrimp and white shrimp raising patterns. And Ca Mau Province is the leading local in the country about area and shrimp production. Shrimp industry is determined as a spearhead economic sector of Ca Mau and prioritized for investment and development.

We visited to shrimp farm of Phan Thanh Hung(Nam Can District, Ca Mau Province), his two shrimp ponds have been preparing to harvest for some next days. Mr. Hung said that, in this area, he as well as many other farmers were just used to raising shrimp in the traditional pond, so the profit is low.
Thank to learn the experiences of super intensive shrimp farming patterns, in the early 2018, Mr. Hung has change to super intensive shrimp farming pattern. Currently, There are more 131.000 hecctares shrimp farming area in Bac Lieu province, high tech shrimp production accounts for 20000 hectares.
In 1,1 hectares area, Mr. Hung designed three ponds, each pond has 1,200m2 area. There are 2 ponds to treat water, including one settling pond, one pond to supply water. And there are also 3 ponds to treat bioga. These ponds are all lined with tarpaulins, nets, electrical systems, fans, motor, automatic feeders,….with total cost of 1,2 billion VND.
Shrimp farming area in the world is about 720 thousand hectares. Many localities in Ca Mau developed super intensive shrimp farming pattern such as Nam Can, Ngoc Hien, Tan Phu, Ca Mau City….
According to Mr.Hung, in addition to provide food for shrimp, he have to perform properly the process everyday such as testing water quality, changing the clean water for shrimp pond, cleaning the bottom of pond and tracking the shrimp development to take measures timely.
Each month, qualified engineers or buying partners come to the shrimp pond to test the stability of water quality, alkalinity, toxic to provide timely instructions for farmers.
The shrimp farming time is about 115-120 days/ crop, there are 3 crop yearly. The medium shrimp price is about 150000-200000 kilogam. Apart from costs ,Mr. Hung’profit for each crop is 500 million VND. Thank to this pattern, Mr Hung and other farmers have become well-off and made great economic progress.

After classifying shrimp, traders will purchase and freeze right there before bringing them to bussiness in the area for treatment and processing. The rest of members in Nam Dong Cooperative is to clean the ponds as well as prepare new seeds for the next crop.
Viet’shrimp is exported to 90 countries.
Currently, Shrimp industry in Viet Nam is focusing on constructing and developing production linkchain from input to output to decrease the production cost in livestock as well as improve the quality for the shrimp in Viet Nam.
Many shrimp farming household have cooperated together to establish the production cooperation with large scale. They are provided the standard seed by hatchery business from the beginning, providing feed and materials for shrimp farming, while the output is purchased and processed by business.
Besides, relevant partes such as scients, capital-supporting banks and regulatory agencies contribute to form closed chain in the shrimp industry, reducing intermediaries, connecting cultivation area directly, production to consumption.
